Hello Ironman Team,

As Chris has shared with you all last week, the Ironman NZ team are trialing Blerter at Taupo 70.3 and subsequently at IMNZ.

Blerter is a real-time communication and collaboration tool for dispersed teams like yours - learn more about Blerter here.  At Taupo 70.3 the Ironman team and the LOC will be using Blerter in parallel with the current primary communication method of the 2-way radio system. Please note that neither replaces a 111 call in an emergency situation.

There will be four managers for the Blerter App at Taupo 70.3:  Wayne, Adam, Chris, and Shanelle Barrett who will be based in EOC using the powerful dashboard to coordinate alongside the usual EOC crew and Radio Systems.

This page has been set up to help you get started with Blerter and learn a bit more about how it will be used during the Ironman 70.3 event in Taupo on December 9th.

Getting Started

1. Download the App

As a first step, you need to download the Blerter App to your Android or iOS device (smartphone or tablet). Follow the links below to view the App in the stores or search for Blerter in your app store.

2. Signing in

Once you have downloaded the App you can sign in using the email address and password that we emailed to you. If you have not received this email, please check your spam folder. If it's not in there either, please contact Lisa at

The first time you open the Blerter app it will ask you to allow push notifications and geo-location tracking. Please allow both! This is really important for the managers to be able to communicate with you and view the exact location of issues you report.

You will automatically be connected to the Ironman NZ Business and two projects:

  • Test Project: Use this project to have a go and play with the app before the event

  • Ironman 70.3: This is the project for the event on the 9th. Please DO NOT use this project until the day of the race.

3. Update your Profile

We have set up your basic profile with your name, role and contact details but there are a few things you should do. Tab on the menu icon in the top left and then on your name to view your profile. Tab the dots in the top right to edit your profile.

  • Check your details are correct (edit them if needed)

  • Add a profile picture to make it easy for others to recognise you

  • Add any relevant certifications such as first aid certificates and others

4. Have a play with the Test Project

You’re all set up. Now it’s time to have a go and play around with the Test Project. From the left side menu, select Project and then tap the Check In button next to Test Project. Blerter is pretty intuitive but it might be worth having a quick look through the Quick Start Tutorials below.

Please remember not to use the Ironman 70.3 Project until the day or the race!

Get in touch with us
